SportsPhotography @ Misano

Well I'll have to write my holiday into a blog, bummer.
Where do I begin after preparing my gear for the friday I woke up at 04:00 o'clock.
Too early to go off my bed, but after a visit to the toilet ( I was groggy and not woken up flares of Rossi going in the Dixie went through my mind LOL )
Not much later I turned the laptop on checked my email, put on my clothes and went to the lobby.
Because breakfast is from 07:30 till 09:30 and I was earlier the night clerk gave me a bottle of water.
Bummer no 2.
After some pictures of the sunset on the beach of Cattolica I went to the bus stop for the free bus to Misano.
After a ride of almost 10 minutes all the people were dropped off and had to take a walk to complete the journey to the circuit.
The road covered with dirt and large pieces of gravel didn't make it easy.
That was bummer no 3 ( the walk was about a kilometre or 2. )
Luckily for me I had my Meindl boots on.
Unlucky for the people on flip flops LOL ( later on I would get the LOL right back at me )
After passing the guy from ticket control I could pursue my way.
First I went to orientate me to find good spots to make pictures.
The first spot was on Prato 1 ( Prato one is a large public stand and a small stadium section.
It isn't difficult to take pictures up there, but I like it when I've to work for it.
So let's call this bummer no 4 :D
During the practice of the 125 I walked from the public stand to section C wich is a grandstand.
But the light was sucking ........ ( fill in the dots )
So returned to where I came from another 6min walk.
The heat was turned on and sweat was almost pooring of my face.
Up the hill there was some wind and the MotoGP was next.
As usual I wait for two laps and so I determine what I want to see.
And so the fun could begin the shutter of my camera was like a machine gun so fast it went.
That went on for almost an hour and the 250's were next.
Again my shutter was behaving himself as an repulsive gun and the time flew.
I packed my stuff and walked the dirty road the C section ( lol @ c section but I mean section C )
It was hotter then the first walk but bummer no 6 was coming the gate was closed to the grandstand and the security guard said "noooh" and smiled so I had to walk back and a lot further then were I came from.
This was at least another 2 kilometre walk with a backpack filled with a Nikon D300, 2 battery's, 300mm f2.8 lens, 80-200mm f2.8 lens, 2.0 teleconverter, drinks, something to eat and a monopod it was like a living hell.
I made the walk to Prato 2 ( about half way at the section at the end ) I lost 3 liters of sweat and gained 1.5 liter of Aqua minerale non gas ( the gas you'll get from all the grilled zucchini, olive oil and so on )
I made my pics up there and then it was like a lightning strike that hit me.
I was tired as hell I gasped for drinks with a lot of sugar wich I normally never drink.
And I didn't had the energy to hold my camera and then I also have to walk the whole way back to the bus.
I got a big sunburn ( it's even the question if I go tomorrow to the circuit or the race ) I spend about 20 euro's on drinks and almost ten for an program.
On my arms I'm as red like Casey's bike and I'm tired as hell.
Time for some pictures:
I've got a lot more of other riders but because this is a Rossi forum...
Only Rossi pictures!
Ciao

| | I can learn you how to take pictures LOL. To make good pictures you'll have to try, try, try it's nothing else. A steady hand, knowledge of your material and the knowlegde of a good composition. The right place on the track is also one of the things that have to be perfect. |

| | Well my biggest problem is my camera, the zoom is quite bad, so its hard to get close pictures of the riders on the track, and it is not fast either so by the time the camera takes the picture, the riders a long gone LOL |

No, I've a 8 frames per second camera and quite a fast zoomlens. Ok, it's professional but I need it ![]() |

| | They are really good photo's you've taken there....why oh why don't any of my attempts at taking photo's of the riders on the track ever work...I usually end up with a slither of a back wheel and empty track! |

| | Thank you Maria but I am not happy with the pictures! The pictures like no 1,2,4 and 6 are too blurry because of the distance and Vale was too much cropped. All the pictures are taken with 900mm, but stil not enough. That you think I'm a pro is nice to hear, but one of my dreams is to follow a whole season MotoGP, SBK or even BSB. Just taking pictures for a team or a magazine would suits me very well I think. I love the sport and I love to take pictures of it. And the benefits of being a pro is better than standing between the fans or such. I like motorcycle fans a lot, but with some good sun and after a couple of beers they seem to lose their patience and are beinig too interested in my material. |

| | @Angela I guess that your problem with the pictures is that you don't pan. Panning is a technique to follow a subject at about the same speed and direction at a linear line and then press the button to get your pics. If you're ever in Assen or I'll be in your neighbourhood let me no and I'll learn you the technique maybe you can even make a picture with pro material ![]() |

| | Great pics, as always! Thanks for sharing!!! If you have any pics of Simoncelli, I'd be grateful if you'd send them to me via PM or maybe post them in the Marco thread. Pretty sure all the other Hair fans would appreciate it also ![]() |

| | Simoncelli isn't a problem ![]() Now I'm busy with some other stuff, but when I've the time to search through my pictures of Misano and Assen I certainly will post a couple of them. |
