The momentum is crushing
As the moments come rushing
The riders begin to deliver
What feels like a shiver

There is a feeling of celebration

okay done, i told you i wasnt creative. |

I'm stuck on a painting I'm doing. It's the one that was auctioned at the Day of Champions, you know for the winning bidder to have a photo taken with Valentino and then for me to paint it. Well I'm stuck already.
I think that Vale is looking a little on the chubby side (his face) in it and there's something wrong with the mouth and left eye. The painting's not nearly finished yet, so don't worry about the hair, sunglasses clothes or background etc...they're just sketched in for now as a guide for when I paint them properly, but does the face need thinning and the eye and mouth sorting out .... am I right with this or is it something else that's making it look wrong?
I need fresh eyes to point out the mistakes to me. & don't just hold back with the comments thinking you're being mean pointing out the problems 'cos that's what I need....the wrong areas made obvious to me so I can fix them up and make it right!
The person who this painting is for has paid a lot of money for it and I'm sure he would want it to be done right.....so no holds bared, what's wrong with it? PLEASE!!! |
I think it's because he's put his head back, whereas usual Rossi posture is slouching forward, neck forward... he rarely tucks his chin in like that, so it makes him look different.
I think his neck is a bit too thick... that's what gives it a "fatter" look, because i actually think you've nailed his features... the symmetry etc seems pretty much right on. And he does have a skinny kind of neck. (Cute skinny neck.)
The other thing... there seems to be a tension around his mouth... the smile looks a bit tight, not his usual easy looking smile. Now, this might be where you have to use artistic licence... cause if that is the half assed, tight looking smile he gave... to make the fan happy, should probably loosen his smile up a bit. Teeth possibly protruding a bit too much, so I guess the shape of his top teeth and the line they have not quite accurate.
Did Rossi seriously not take his sunnies off for the photo? What a dork. lol.
Nice work Angela... the fan that we can't see... how are they coming along?
Oh, and perhaps the position of his left shoulder looks like it's coming forward... putting his head back from his body even further... so it's an angle thing or something.
