its true. 500cc was the greatest. 990cc was meant to be equivalent, so why move down to 800? bad decision on dorna's part.

I never understood why they lowered the cc's. It was the most stupid thing they have ever done. And then at the same time that tyre rule thing. And not to forget the maximum fuel thing also.
The nice things about the 999cc were the enormous power the bikes had and it was also an engine that also exists on the commercial market. Well at least the cc's. 800 cc doesn't exist commercially. And now that they lowered the cc's it lowered the torque and power. I think it is simply stupid!

I think they should strip all traction/launch control features from the bikes so its more down to the rider. unfortuntely as Julian and Toby say on Eurosport, you cant uninvent technology!

would love to see Valentino on a HOnda NSR 500 again!!!

their logic was that 990cc bikes were too easy, and 800cc bikes had a smaller powerband and higher cornerspeed. but that is dumb. 500cc 2-strokes are the greatest. they are quick, powerful, and they sound like pissed off lawnmowers. not to mention it took much more skill to ride them. if they were at 2-strokes, even people like Pedrosa and Melandri would be super slow. they are just not refined enough for 500s

and trac control/ launch control is the most jackasstic thing ever put on a momo.
