Mwaaaaaah!
Paddock "OFFICIAL" thank you very much. Marshall Smarshall.
Gawd, and I thought Tassie and myself were doing a "long" weekend... Maree, you should buy property there!
I'm leaving Sydney at about 3am Wednesday morning, to get to Tassie's hopefully mid afternoon. (I hear a horrible rumour that it's school holidays... bastardos!) Once there, I intend to be fed and watered and shown around the estate, razz the child a bit and make him cry, fall asleep in the big fluffy bed Tassie is gonna make for me, then up at the crack of dawn to be at the island thursday morning at 6.30... about a 2 hour drive which I'm putting on Tassie to do whilst I sleep, and she's the local, so I'm hoping we'll make better time that way.
Then the same, over and over... till Monday...
I'm staying with Tassie, the girly girl who can't stand the thought of camping... (though it didn't take much convincing to dissuade me, either, lol) so we're commuting every day from somewhere...
Now, for anyone that lines up meeting me, be warned: I've bought steel capped work boots to go with my death row orange overalls, and I'm prepared to use them! (My concession to comfort is my lambs wool insoles already inserted and waiting for my hot foot.)
Apparently paddock officials are in the racing paddock, so I'll be armed with digital camera... so don't be surprised if you find dirty photos of Tassie and Nicky Hayden...
As for Valentino... I'll try and give VicVale46 a run for her money, but no promises! There will be work to do. Just hope noone asks for directions...
(And we're told as track workers not to harass the riders for autographs and photos... WHILST WORKING. I smell a loophole!)
Apparently part of Tassie and my job will be keeping drunkards and similar assbandits from getting into the paddock area. I intend playing the helpless female card as much as I can to make sure I don't get put in siberia...
Apparently hardly any females do the officiating (oops, nearly said "marshalling"), and really don't know why... so I'm hoping for nice, cushy, race paddock jobs. Get Rossi a cool drink, you know, that sort of thing. Get Rossi something from the hospitality tent... you with me?
Anyway, I'm keen as mustard to hear those bikes in the flesh... never been to a race before. Wanna smell the petrol and get a carbon monoxide headache, wanna get sore ears from screaming engines. Wanna get blocked sinuses from burnt rubber. Bring it on, I say!
And obviously, all us YCers... we'll have to do lunch!
