Hi Everyone
I'm a newbie to this site and a Vale fan from Perth, Australia...G'day everyone!
I will be making the pilgrimage to the San Marino GP this year with my girlfriend and thought I would start up this thread for event information as I have not seen a Misano 2008 thread yet.
This will be my first time in Italy. My GF and I are not sure which tickets to buy, we were thinking of buying Grandstand A or B, but again can't decide between the two. I have read the Misano 2007 thread and see that most of the Rossi Fan Club is in Prato 2 but having been to GP's before, I would much rather we had reserved seats so that we can wander around and not lose our spot.
Also we are plannig to stay in Cattolica Sat/Sun night and wondering what the atmosphere there is like around the GP weekend? Where does all the 'action' take place? I've read that Rimini/Riccione is the Ibiza of the Adriatic so we are wondering if Cattolica would be the same? We want action!
Any information would be much appreciated and see you all in Misano later this year!! | Today

Welcome to the forum, Kneedown.
This year will also be my first at Misano so unfortunately can't give you any inside info on the race There are quite a few of us going there but the ones I know of are all staying in Rimini. I went to a fair about Italy a couple of weeks ago and I picked up some information about that area also. And in it it says that Cattolica is more of a family place... So no idea if it is gonna be as full of nightlife as Rimini...
Whichever way: we should meet up at the race! The other two races I am going to (Sachsenring and Brno) we already agreed to have a meeting point and time so all who want to meet up can be there. I think we should have that in Misano as well... Will have to ask the people who were there last year bout where best to meet...
Right, enough rambling on about nothing Ivi Riding a race bike is an art -
a thing that you do because you feel something inside. GO VALE, SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF!!!
And you did, fantastic, WORLD CHAMPION 2008!!!

We went to Misano last year and we walked through Cattolica - it really isn't very big and I think Ivonische has described it well, it seems to be a mostly residential family place. The bonus is that you can easily walk from there to the circuit and back. And you can easily walk from there to Tavullia...it is only the whole lot in one go that nearly killed me!
We stayed the first time in Pesaro which was quite lively but I have heard that there would be a lot more going on in Rimini.
I am trying to remember where we were last year, which grandstand but the MotoGP website is not helping me much at the moment. What I do remember is that I don't think you get a terrific view of the whole track from anywhere really and even in the grandstand we were in it was not numbered seating - there was concrete staging but no individual seats so you did have to make sure you got there and reserved yourself a suitable spot. That was still way better than where most of the fan club were (I will try to look this up and give you more exact direction later!) because that was a reasonably steep grass bank. I don't know if you remember but last year they had torrential rain at the start of the weekend, the track was flooded and although by the time we got there on saturday the bank had largely dried out it would have been "interesting" in the wet. Your only option would be to lash yourself to the fence at the top and hope for the best.
I will see if I can find out some more exact details...one thing for sure the atmosphere there for Vale fans is unbeatable. | | Recruit | | Posts: 4 Join Date: 29.04.2008 Location: Perth, Australia

Hey Ivonnsche & Jrcambs
Cheers for the replies...nice to meet you guys! We did consider Rimini as well as Riccione but in the end picked Cattolica as we will be able to walk to the track and back. Being close to the track is more important as it will just save a lot of hassle on the day. We will have a car so getting to and form the entertainment areas should not be a problem. If the party is in Rimini...we will be there!
And yes it will be nice to meet up with you and the rest of the yellowcommunity folks there. Plans will become clear closer to teh date I imagine.
Jrcambs...I read your account of your trip last year...hope your blisters have healed by now!
Here is a circuit map and hopefully this will bring back some memories. We don't expect to be able to see the whole track from our seat, but a good view of an action packed corner would be great. There are video walls all over the place as well so that is good. We want to buy tickets as soon as possible and currently leaning towards Tribuna B.

OK , thanks very much for the circuit map (on the old MotoGp site I would have found it straight away but now on the new, improved site I could not find a map of Misano at all!).
We were in Grandstand D so had a reasonable view of the bikes coming down the straight and then around the corner and back again - I do rememeber there being a fair amount of activity in the gravel right in front of us which you would also see from B.
I don't think it is a great circuit for spectating but the atmosphere was terrific until it all went pear-shaped last year - and then Vale's popularity became even more evident as people started to leave. The Misano race last year must have been one of the most tedious, for sure!
Oh those blisters!!! My poor feet, do you know I still don't think they have fully recovered!!! | | Top Corporal | | Posts: 82 Join Date: 28.04.2008 Location: Helsinki, Finland Age: 26

Hummm hummm hummm....
So is anyone up for a date at Valentino Cafe?
I think it woud be great to meet other Yellow Community members, so I hope we will have a meet-and-greet then. If not for any other reason, only to gush about Vale since we won't be in the forum for awhile!
I'm staying at Misano Adriatico. When I asked about the distance from my hotel to the Misano Circuit, I was told it's just 1.7km which doesn't sound too bad for a walk... Obviously it would be great if we met up somewhere and hired a car for a day-trip to Tavullia! I'm getting the mix tapes ready... Oh, and my seat is at the grandstand A, because, well, you know, the site I purchased my ticket from made every seat sound like the best seat in the circuit and it was so difficult to choose I just went alphabetically. I believe grandstand A means I'll be back towards the starting grid... | | BANNED | | Posts: 4,986 Join Date: 17.01.2007 Location: Cambridgeshire

If I am right Paperinik grandstand A is just before the last corner before the start/finish straight and should be a good vantage point.
I love the idea of meeting up in the Valentino Cafe - if I were going, I would be there for certain....will have to wait patiently and see what happens.
Misano Adriatico is not far from the circuit at all and you should be able to walk there easily.
And you don't need to hire a car to get to Tavullia....we had to walk last year....and I did recover eventually !... I'd hire a car if I were you! | | Top Corporal | | Posts: 82 Join Date: 28.04.2008 Location: Helsinki, Finland Age: 26

Of course you must come, Jrcambs! We can hire a car and drive ahead to ValeCafe for cappucinos and chocolate croissants and sit on the terrace while the others walk! | | Senior Second Lieutenant | | Posts: 1,667 Join Date: 26.03.2007 Location: Slovenia Age: 29

Just because someone sees two naked people asleep in bed together, it doesn't necessarily prove sex was involved. It does, however, make for a very strong case.
