Sometimes I just don't understand what is playing in the heads of these administrators of motorsports. At one instances, they will be allowing a lot of things on the machine in the name of development and now, they are planning to go into the tyres with an excuse to slow down the machines. So when the teams are able to counter that and the riders and bikes keep laping faster than they use to, what's going to be their next move? 2008 - VALE CONQUERED Qatar-5th, Jerez 2nd, Estoril 3rd, Shanghai 1st, Le Mans 1st, Mugello 1st, Catalunya 2nd, Donnington 2nd, Assen 11th, Sachsenring 2nd, Laguna Seca 1st, Brno 1st, Misano 1st, Indy 1st, Motegi 1st- 2008 World Champ , P.I 2nd, Sepang 1st, Valencia 3rd - 2008 World Champion | Today

Why not take it a step further?
If there are 15 riders in the paddock next year, have Michelin or Bridgestone produce 45 sets of tires for each race.
All with the same composition and compound.
Then have an independant 3rd party distribute those tires at random to the teams.
It may challenge VR and the others more, but it won't stop VR from winning because the difficulties he experiences will probably be just as bad for everyone else. MotoGP World Championships = 7. MADE it 8 in 2008. Ok, since BS got the contract, does anybody know whether they are to come up with any extra regulations such as each team only get 4 sets per race and if they have chosen soft or hard for the race, that's it, they can't change. If that's the case, it's gonna be tough coz it's going to be like a gamble in every race. 2008 - VALE CONQUERED Qatar-5th, Jerez 2nd, Estoril 3rd, Shanghai 1st, Le Mans 1st, Mugello 1st, Catalunya 2nd, Donnington 2nd, Assen 11th, Sachsenring 2nd, Laguna Seca 1st, Brno 1st, Misano 1st, Indy 1st, Motegi 1st- 2008 World Champ , P.I 2nd, Sepang 1st, Valencia 3rd - 2008 World Champion | | Junior Captain | | Posts: 3,489 Join Date: 24.05.2008 Location: i have no clue, but everyone wears white and they talk in whispers

exactly the logistics for having that many different tires travel to every race would be a nightmare Are you thinking what I'm thinking that I think that you're thinking I'm thinking because if you think that I think what I think I'm thinking then we've got a problem? | | Top Second Lieutenant | | Posts: 1,839 Join Date: 21.05.2007 Location: Gold Coast Australia

Bridgestone make proposal to be single tyre supplier in 2009
Saturday, 04 October 2008
Japanese tyre manufacturers Bridgestone have submitted their proposal to the FIM and Dorna to be the sole supplier of tyres in MotoGP in 2009.
In a meeting held on Saturday at Phillip Island the Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Claude Danis (FIM), Herve Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in the presence of Mr. Paul Butler (Secretary of the meeting), were informed that Bridgestone has sent a proposal to the FIM and Dorna to be the single tyre supplier in MotoGP for 2009.
The proposal will be studied and an announcement will be made on 18th October 2008 in Sepang, Malaysia.
Bridgestone´s current competitors in the premier class, Michelin, did not submit a proposal as confirmed by a press release from the French tyre company themselves on Saturday.
Hiroshi Yamada, Bridgestone´s Motorcycle Sport Unit Manager, commented, `We submitted our proposal yesterday and we have heard that Michelin didn´t apply. At the moment they have not decided yet which company will supply the tyres for next year, but as we are the only manufacturer (to propose) there is a very high possibility that we will be the supplier for next year´.
