02.08.2008, 12:13
You know i hate that the 250 cc leaves the gp. It has been a long time they
raced in that class and it's to bad they going to replace it for 600 cc bike.
I think 600 cc bike must be only in WSB not in MotoGP.
I like the 2-stroke it looks and sounds great. I think thats really racing like
when we had the 500 cc 2-stroke bikes. No tractioncontrole and stuf like that just racing.
I saw a pic today the bike looks great, i'm very curious how it sounds!!! | Today

If it ain't broke then don't fix it is what I say....keep 250's as 250's...if they want to bring in 600's then bring it in with another new class.....125cc, 250cc, 600cc & then 800cc....and they should not be able to progress up into the next class up unless they are 1st or 2nd in the class at the end of the season. I've never been a major watcher of the lower classes... very much depends on what I'm doing prior to the motogp... but I think it sounds dinky to get rid of a class that is as old as motogp... and especially as they want to replace it with a class that is sooo close to the majors...
So they want to use a V twin engine in the 600s? Wouldn't that make it even closer to the 800s? Sounds nuts... wonder who this would suit the most... find that answer and we'll find out why they're doing it. Wonder if it's to break the euro dominance on the bikes... they want more american riders in motogp in order to widen the market in the US. (I mean, a second GP there? Really... )
That superbikes and all those other classes that the Hickster's brothers ride in... very popular in US... obviously Dorna want that audience and entertainment dollar...
Wankers...
Angela... with that sort of thinking, that means KC wouldn't have gotten his Honda ride... where he kept taking everyone out cause he couldn't ride his bike...
If you were to get a petition going, I'm betting Sete would be the first to sign it, lol. It's taken one and a half racing seasons, but finally, Rossi has broken Stoner... and smashed him like a guitar! I can think that Dorna thinks the step from the 250's its to big to the 800's. See Lorenzo he said yesterday he's afraid on the Yamaha and his confidence is very low at the moment but Lorenzo was last year and the year before the king off the 250's and see guys like Vale, Pedrosa, Biaggi, Capirossi and many more that did it very well in the 250's.
I think it's a safety thing but then again ad another class to it. Then the field in the 800's will be bigger in a few years too. | | Senior Captain | | Posts: 4,231 Join Date: 02.07.2007 Location: Ukraine, Kharkov/ Ucrainia, Charkov Age: 18

Well, personally I'll miss 250 cc as races there were more sometimes even more exciting then in the premier class Besides, I see no actual reasons for replacing 250 cc with 600 cc. Don't think it'll attract much more attention, but it'll creat much more problems for teams - that's true. It's even more global change then in MotoGP with 990 cc to 800 cc. Well, anyway, will be interesting to see Ars longa, vita brevis... | | Super-Moderator | | Posts: 772 Join Date: 31.05.2007 Location: UK Age: 22

There have always been changes in cc throughout the history of racing. And it had to do with what was being sold in the real world so if it is not efficient to have the 250cc anymore then of course they gonna replace them.
I personally am gonna miss them too but what can we do? Ivi Riding a race bike is an art -
a thing that you do because you feel something inside. GO VALE, SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF!!!
And you did, fantastic, WORLD CHAMPION 2008!!!

Actually, just before reading your idea, Ivonne, a similar thing was occurring to me... that they may be seeing that the investment from factories into 250s isn't worth it... which ties in with Tom's opinion about 250s being an ailing class...
Are there any Honda's this year? i remember last year them saying how honda weren't spending a single cent on their development... and that was one of the reason's Andrea's bike was such crap.
And perhaps GP want to cash in more on what the superbikes do... develop the street bikes... would that work? Or do people think that 600ccGP would be exactly like Motogp... development and racing way beyond what is on streetbikes?
Be curious to know, also, if they intend to run it as similarly as 250.. you know, a very economical version of motogp... or it it would develop into a mini motogp thing.
I don't see why they can't keep the 250s as well... what's the harm... and I certainly think 4 races packed into the day would be fun!
OR, the obvious thing, keep 250 and get rid of 125s.
But i def think it's something to do with Dorna and wanting to widen their markets and they feel 600s would do it better.
