Again these are team results.
It is not difficult.
Well the odds are clear. Like a one-two finish for a team. Which makes 100% of the results that both riders could (normally should) accomplish.
Example:
The FIAT Yamaha team have accomplished for the moment in 4 races 81,11% of 100%. So this means they've let 18,89% of stakes left a side. Or you can also see it like odds they've let down to get the 100%.

Mmmmm, possibly a bit cloudy.
So you're saying that Yamaha's chance of winning a race, at the moment, are 81.11%?
Well, your stats are skewed! WIth Rossi the man of the moment, it should be at least, 95%... how do I know? I just know! It's taken one and a half racing seasons, but finally, Rossi has broken Stoner... and smashed him like a guitar! No, no, noooooo, that's not the thing. It is very simple. Again these are global team stats. The 81,11% is what they already achieved together in the last 4 races. The 18,89% (to get 100%) is what they left or lost.
Another example:
If they (Valentino & Jorge) do both a one-two finish at Le Mans they would achieve 100% of the results for that race. So that means that they would get 84,89% of achieved points together as a team for the last 5 races.
You still don't get it, I suppose? Is your brain getting boiled? | | Super-Moderator | | Posts: 782 Join Date: 31.05.2007 Location: UK Age: 22

I think what you mean is a percentage of positions collected by each team out of the total available so far. The problem was your use of the wrong tenses rather than peoples intelligence, you made it a little more confusing than it actually is. | | Master Sergeant | | Posts: 584 Join Date: 05.07.2007

Ah that must be because you became a moderator, that you could understand my confusing explanation. But it was already clear. | | DIVA | | Posts: 2,209 Join Date: 01.07.2007 Location: Sydney, Australia

Oh, Pasquale, my beloved nemesis!
Clear as mud! Clear as mud!
So yamaha have won 81.11% of races. I guess the problem here is we were looking for something more interesting than that!
Here's something you can get your teeth into. What are the odds, based on last year's races, of Michelin tyres not lasting the distance of a race? You can just use Rossi's races or the entire michelin stable... but go ahead, dazzle me!
Then, at the end of this year, you can compare stats, and see if michelin improved this year or not. It's taken one and a half racing seasons, but finally, Rossi has broken Stoner... and smashed him like a guitar! Pasquale I have always been rubbish at maths and that distinction I got in Quantitative Methods when I was doing my professional studies years ago was an absolute fluke and the biggest joke in the entire college (I really should have challenged the result but that would certainly have meant re-sitting the exam )...but I understood what you were getting at all along. You obviously talk my language! | | Master Sergeant | | Posts: 584 Join Date: 05.07.2007

Hmmm Nemesis.... I like it. So you know some greek mythology.
It is for sure to be more interesting what I've told than trying to break it down like you did. But that doesn't hurt...
If it would help you and you could give me a result sheet of last year, I can make the calculation if you really want them...
