Thank you Sasha I didn't think it was the real title of the song, so I never tried doing that myself. Wish I'd have googled it weeks back now, just to prove a very big point - that I was RIGHT all along!! OK...back to topic... Vale needs to learn how to get the best out of his previously unused Bridgestone tyres...er, we agree with that don't we?! ....So how about the fact that Lorenzo, Toseland & Dovi all had the exact same problems to overcome, by using a tyre non of them had ever used before but also the added problems of racing on a bike non of them had ever before used during a race, not to mention them all being brand new to the MotoGP race class too. This is what's puzzling me.....3 other riders, all rookies in the race class, rookies to their tyres and rookies to their bikes yet all 3 managed to finish ahead of Vale. I mean, why? How did that happen? This is what's gotten me wondering about things, nothing to do with Casey, his bike or his tyres just the 3 rookies that finished ahead of Vale. i thought michelins were much better than Bridgestonez in qatar and that played a big part...ofcourse we have an unanswered question abt Casey's tyres.. but i think in the future there will be a rookie who will win the championship...just because of the way things have changed in motogp....of course..not as long as Vale's around.. | | BANNED | | Posts: 4,986 Join Date: 17.01.2007 Location: Cambridgeshire

I have always thought this night race would throw up some strange results and it did which partly explains your problem Angela - I almost expected it! It really was a one-off for which none of the riders really had any experience so my view had always been that anyone could have won that race on any machine or tyres.
Another part of the explanation is that the Michelins were very strong - have been in the past and proved that they were way ahead of Bridgestones in this particular race, too.
The riders may have been new but the teams themselves have plenty of data on how the Michelins work with the Yamaha - this is one element Vale was lacking compared to the other Yamahas and to KC - he had no past data to look at so had to start from scratch. It will take time but I am confident he will get there and understand how to get the best out of the combination.
Those new riders are not dummies, either - perhaps their promotion to the top class was well overdue.
I also think there was some luck....pretty lame, I know but there you have it!
Also, you should know by now that I am a very cynical person....shaking the field up like this has certainly made a lot of people take an interest who may not otherwise have done so.
People who had become bored to tears of watching the motorcycle processions of last season may be prepared to give it another chance and will be curious to see how things pan out over the next few races. If they had tuned in and watched something similar to what dominated last season that last chance they were giving the sport may have been used up there and then. I really do honestly hope that is not the case, it is very unlikely but I have to admit, seeing how things may well be changing has certainly softened the blow of Vale not winning outright from the start.
I think we do have to expect that things are changing - that has always happened over the years and will continue to do so. | | Master Sergeant | | Posts: 574 Join Date: 24.03.2007
