I don't think it applys on straights, remember Mugello, Laguna etc have walls quite close too! I'd hope they would put some more run off though, they will be going really close to the wall to get the racing line into turn 1, if someone gets it wrong on entry it could turn out nasty. | | Junior Second Lieutenant | | Posts: 1,072 Join Date: 06.11.2007 Location: Malaysia Age: 40

Yep, I hope they look seriously into that particular area. We don't want anything bad to happen to any of the riders. It's still long way to go to the Indy race so I believe that they will be doing some modifications to the track including to the retaining wall. 2008 - VALE CONQUERED Qatar-5th, Jerez 2nd, Estoril 3rd, Shanghai 1st, Le Mans 1st, Mugello 1st, Catalunya 2nd, Donnington 2nd, Assen 11th, Sachsenring 2nd, Laguna Seca 1st, Brno 1st, Misano 1st, Indy 1st, Motegi 1st- 2008 World Champ , P.I 2nd, Sepang 1st, Valencia 3rd - 2008 World Champion | | Super-Moderator | | Posts: 4,688 Join Date: 17.01.2007 Location: Liverpool-England

Not sure if this is true but just got it in an Google alert email MotoGP riders consider Tibet protest.
Led by Valentino Rossi, MotoGP riders are considering a protest against the violent security crackdown in Tibet. The protest would take place at the Chinese Grand Prix on May 4 in Shanghai.
"All the world is with Tibet," Rossi told Reuters. "But we need to be careful, or else they will arrest all of us."
If the protest goes ahead, it will provide further impetus for those proposing a boycott of the Beijing Olympics' opening ceremony.
"I am 100 percent behind Tibet. We know that to demonstrate against the Chinese regime is dangerous but we will see if we can do something," said Loris Capirossi. Not just Moto GP but all athletes from all sort of sports condemned the action taken by the Chinese government on Tibetans. Since the Moto GP is going to Shanghai after this, so it's just the right moment the riders speak out their minds but I'm sure they'll do it in a very diplomatic manner. 2008 - VALE CONQUERED Qatar-5th, Jerez 2nd, Estoril 3rd, Shanghai 1st, Le Mans 1st, Mugello 1st, Catalunya 2nd, Donnington 2nd, Assen 11th, Sachsenring 2nd, Laguna Seca 1st, Brno 1st, Misano 1st, Indy 1st, Motegi 1st- 2008 World Champ , P.I 2nd, Sepang 1st, Valencia 3rd - 2008 World Champion | | BANNED | | Posts: 4,986 Join Date: 17.01.2007 Location: Cambridgeshire

I have very mixed ideas about mixing sport and politics. In theory I think it is wrong but then, if they are protesting and their beliefs are the same as mine I want to be in favour of it.
I am sure they will be diplomatic about it - even the fact that they are discussing it now may be enough without them having to take any further action.
