I see the thread for discussing the Qatar race has already been closed...it only happened 2 days ago!!
I just wanted to comment on the fact that Vale seemed to make a much better start this time - Ok he had to do it from 7th position but last season he would have been way back there by the first corner even if he had started on pole. As there were some real fighters at the front there it was just as well because getting up through that lot would have been a major task for him. While I do enjoy seeing him picking them off one by one you can have too much of a good thing.

Also, am I right that Pedrosa ran out of fuel and had to be pushed back to park ferme? One of these days they are going to get that badly wrong and not make it to the line. Can you just imagine that?...in the lead, around the last corner and just not enough momentum to get to the line after the engine put-puts to a halt. Are they allowed to get off and push?

Yup, the rules says that you are allowed to get down and push but without any assistance from anyone to the finish line and you must reach the finish line together with the bike.

Thank you Han - that is interesting. I am sure if it ever did happen then it would be difficult to stop well-meaning people, marshalls, etc helping out. I know the marshalls have rules to adhere to but if you saw your favourite rider splutter to a halt just metres from the finish......could you resist the temptation to give him a push?

Wouldn't really have a problem with pushing Valentino though the bike might be in the way...

Why is it soooooooo windy?? Can't cross the road without help!!!

Yes the rider and bike must remain in contact with each other crossing the line. So if a rider happened to fall going over the line it would only be classed as finishing, allowing the points to stand if the rider was still touching the bike somewhere or other....(not very likely for that to happen, although it did come close with the Edwards and Hayden battle the other year at Assen I think it was, didn't it?)

The current track project at Volokolamsk, 80 kilometres west of Moscow, is being headed by Hans Geist, the former general manager of the Austrian Grand Prix at the A1 Ring.
With funding for the track coming from both Russian and foreign investors, Geist has already had the design plans for the venue put together by Hermann Tilke - with the brief being that it is built to Formula One standards.
However, Geist has made it clear that the target is not for an F1 race. Instead, he wants to secure the rights to a MotoGP race and also DTM.
"F1 is not the main target though every detail is agreed with Bernie (Ecclestone)", said Geist. "If some organizer comes up who wants to bring F1, we would be happy.
"But we are not desperately going for this. The track will be state-of-the-art for all kinds of racing. We do expect MotoGP and DTM to come to us".
The Volokolamsk track will have a capacity for 100,000 spectators and is expected to open in 2010.
HURRAYYYYYYYYY!!!! That would be really great! Thousands of fans here and in Russia are not able to afford themselves a ticket to European GPs or others, cz they're really not cheap for people with sucj low salleries that we often have... Besides, I'm glad, cz to go to Russia would be more comfortable - we speak the same language and have really friendly relations with that country!
Super, hoping that project would be realisedand may be some day they'll start it here in Ukraine... ! And thanks for info

I know that 25-30 degrees above zero might sound a little bit cold for u
But Russia is a really huge country and Siberia (one of the coldest parts of it) is just A PART of it. There're losts of rather warm, even hot in summer regions, and, besides, bears don't walk there on the streets, as some people think
And Volokamsk is a warm place, so motogp wouldn't turn into ice-racing

here're some pictures of it 4 u

Ars longa, vita brevis...
