That's news to me....last year they (Dorna) said they'd never hold a race at Silverstone when Dorna was in talks with both tracks about adding another race to the MotoGP calendar, giving GB 2 races rather than the 1 as it is now. I'm sure that Donington signed a contract to keep the race there until 2015 or there abouts, maybe someone can put me right on the length of the contract Donington have got with Dorna.
Where did you get this information from Apecar?

here u go

Silverstone wants British MotoGP.

Saturday, 16th February 2008

MotoGP to move away from Donington?

MotoGP organisers Dorna are to consider moving the British round of the championship from its home at Donington Park snce 1978 to Silverstone from 2010

"We are talking with Silverstone, but we have not taken any decision," Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta revealed at Jerez during the MotoGP tests today. "Our contract with Donington goes to 2009. Donington has been our partner for many years and has priority.

"But at the end of this year or the beginning of next year we will talk about the possibility of staying at Donington or going somewhere else."

The 2.5-mile Donington circuit is a favourite with riders because of its sweeping curves and undulations. But it is notoriously slippery in the wet – fuel spills from aircraft operating from the nearby East Midlands airport is often blamed, rightly or wrongly – and fans frequently complain about traffic jams.

But the biggest problem with Donington, according to Ezpeleta, is its facilities.

"The boxes have been renewed, but there are problems with the size of the paddock," he said. "Maybe Silverstone will be another way for MotoGP."

I hope that's not going to happen, everything worth having goes to the south of England, it's just not bloody fair!
But on the other hand and seeing things from a riders point of view, I believe Silverstone is a track every rider should race at at least one time in their racing career, it's supposed to be a brilliant track and the best there is apparently??? I've never been so wouldn't have a clue personally.

OOps forgot to say so all that talk last year about the MotoGP never going to Silverstone was a load of bull or maybe it was just when in conjunction with the Donington race still being on the MotoGP calendar? God knows????

i would like it to go to brands personally, but regulations won't let it at the moment, but there is time to make changes. if it is going to change venue the riders should decide as their the ones racing

As it's my local track I should and would say yes IF the spectating their was any good it's flatter than a piece of A4 paper and you can't see nought beyound the corner your standing in places as proven by watching my brother riding the GP layout on a track day and waiting easily 2 minutes 20 to see him again he awas on a '98 R1 with rougly 147 brake on a good day at the back wheel. The Intenational layout would be to short for MotoGP in my view
The Place is weather worn and still would be after redevelopment as it's used all the time by everybody not even motorsport people such as advanced driving schools for police etc.

So donington should keep it much better spectacle.

Unless Palmer can significantly improve run off and facilities at Brands Hatch and widen the circuit in places not the mickey mouse effort he has made this year.

When this has been done Brands can be added as a second round for the UK maybe replacing a Tilke snooze fest like China .

Or if not part of the WC maybe a non championship summer break Grand Prix
with say £3 mil each for winner and team, 2 for second, 1 for third? then maybe £250 000 for top ten other than podium . May encourage a few wild card riders who are a bit short on cash to stand in I think.

Then Valentino can beat the lot.
