No one person deserves the 2008 Championship title yet....I mean they haven't even turned the engines over on their bikes yet....but whoever puts in the most work, tries the hardest and battles through all the tough times, not forgetting winning the most races is the one who deserves the title in my opinion.

Yes, I admit it, Casey deserved it this past season but the 2006 season - well all I can say is Nicky really didn't deserve to take that title......he never won as many races as Vale did that year so in my opinion that title should have stayed with Valentino....fair do's to Casey though for 2007...he won that without a doubt

I have been reading this thread and disagree with alot of what people are saying.

I agree that KC deserves to be champion and he had a great year, but it completely obvious why has clicked so well with the bike.
The main reason he fell off so much in 2006 is because he has absolutely no fear and will take any corner on the limit without and doubt whatsoever, which would explain why he crashed so much and why has been so good with Ducati.
The duke has been set up so he can go down the gears and use the engine brake without any worries whatsoever meaning that he doesn't have to worry about clutch control which helps his corner speed,
This technique on a another bike, would result in the bike turning around on itself and crash, even on a road bike,
colin edwards said it about the yamaha that he has to be very careful.
The next advantage he has is his traction control system, he has been instructed to open the throttle 100% through the corners. His bike has been geared so his first gear is very controlled and useable, which means he wont highside, the revs are low until he reaches the apex and then the bike just explodes, Having been to sachsenring this year I have seen and HEARD it and its astonishing.
The reason Loris has not done as well is phsycological you cant expect a veteran of more than 10 years a person who has ridden the old 500's 990's etc go through a corner with full throttle, everyone knows that going through a corner at full throttle results in a massive high side and a trip to hospital, and he has not been able to overcome that and trust the bike and the same with the rest of the older riders.
Its not a major thing but over a lap it can result in half a second or so in KC's favour which results in his dominant wins.
A recent article in MCN confirmed this when their test rider drove all the bikes except the Yamaha which proves how bad of a bike it was that they wouldn't let anyone ride it.
Ironically the let Mamola ride it who of course said it was good as he is a Ducati employee not very clever.

In conclusion KC deserves to be champ and so ducati, KC for having the balls and talent to trust his bike and Ducati for creating an absolutely magnificent piece of engineering genius.

But KC is still along way of Valentino Talent wise, just give Vale a good bike and the truth will reveal itself.

Go Vale

Chappie, brilliantly said!

Just because someone sees two naked people asleep in bed together, it doesn't necessarily prove sex was involved. It does, however, make for a very strong case.

Yes guys I agree with all the above, also that duke was already fast when kc got it unlike the yam when vale got that, i know its not all about top speed, but kc is never going to beat vale's stats, and lets see him take a lesser ride and win a championship as vale did, then i will eat my crash helmet

I found this in MCN today, It clarifies my original comments

MotoGP: Traction control key to Casey Stoner's success

Struggling new factory Ducati rider Marco Melandri believes a huge part of Casey Stoner’s success is down to the Australian’s skill and confidence with the increased influence of rider aids in MotoGP.
Melandri, who has endured a torrid transition to the Ducati GP8 during winter testing, reckons it is in areas like traction control where reigning world champion Casey Stoner has got such a massive advantage.
Valentino Rossi recently described Stoner as the first of the ‘traction control generation’, with the Italian bemoaning the growing influence of electronics in the premier class.
Former world 250 champion Marco Melandri has seen first hand the devastating form Stoner can produce in winter testing and the Italian told MCN: “Casey uses a lot of traction control, and he is wonderful using it.
“I use very, very much less than him. Almost the next step down from the setting I use is zero and I am not able to use the potential of the system.
“It’s hard to use the throttle on the edge of the tyre because it made it so nervous.”
