Ooh thanks for that doctor46 .

Here's a quick translation of the adrivo.com article...

"With the exit of the large sponsor Camel from the Yamaha Factory team, a large sum of money was lost from MotoGP. However since Valentino Rossi is one of the Yamaha pilots, it was only a question of time until a replacement would be found. Now FIAT will apparently be the successor of the cigarette manufacturer. As eurosport announces, the company wants to invest ten million euro into the team. The reason for the commitment of the four-wheel car company might just be Mr. Rossi. He tested for the Ferrari F1 team in the past year and he also comes from Italy and is hugely popular there. So far there is no official confirmation."

Let's hope we do get official confirmation soon - I wonder what colours the bike would have under a Fiat sponsorship .

Maybe the colour of the italian flag.....

Rossi about Pedrosa; "There are times when I see his front wheel, and I don't know if he is in control or not.''

Wayne Rainey: "it's easier for a fast rider to learn not to crash than for a slow rider to learn how to ride fast"

Rossi about Elias: ''So now we know, and we'll know how to behave next time we meet him''

Telefonica Yamaha?

Viewers with an interest in F1 might have noticed that Renault appeared without branding from Spanish Telecommunications giant Telefonica during testing at Jerez this week.

Although Renault is yet to reveal its final 2007 race livery, Telefonica's absence suggests a split from the French manufacturer since other more minor sponsors were still present on the car.

Telefonica and/or its mobile phone arm Movistar were a major sponsor for many years in all three classes of the motorcycle world championships, but put its full backing behind Renault - or more precisely Spanish hero Fernando Alonso - for 2006 (middle picture). Its decision had been prompted by outrage that Dani Pedrosa, whose career it had supported from the start, would graduate to the premier MotoGP class wearing Repsol Honda rather than Movistar Honda colours.

However, reigning double F1 world champion Alonso has now left Renault for McLaren - which has a long term title sponsorship deal with Vodaphone - while Renault has hired rookie Heikki Kovalainen to replace Alonso alongside Italian Giancarlo Fisichella. That new line-up might not be attractive to Telefonica and the current lack of logos could confirm that the company will not be present in 2007.
So if i understand right, it might not be a spanish Gibber-fan joke after all??
Whahaha this would be something.... First Vale kicks Max Biaggi's ass by taking his sponsor Camel, and now when Gibbers isn't part of the grid anymore :smt006 Vale takes the Movistar sponsor, the colours that our 'friend' Gibbers wore in his 'good' days.... :D

Vale with Sete's ex- sponsor? I don't know if it's a good idea... and that pic of Pedrosa scares me... you know Pedrosa isn't a safe driver! :p

I'm more interested in FIAT sponsorship but it has a link with Ferrari... and FIAT would give 10 million Euros right? ... but Camel offer last year was higher, wasn't it? I mean more money... better bike and race conditions...

I think, if my memory is not playing games with me again, that Camel bid 20 million Euros for the 2006 sponsorship deal with Yamaha.

A link between Valentino Rosso and Ferrari looks set to continue in 2007, with rumours that the Italian's MotoGP campaign this year could be sponsored by Fiat.

The flamboyant Italian rider tested extensively for Ferrari last year, but ultimately signed a contract to stay on two wheels in 2007 with Yamaha.

The Italian carmaker Fiat part-owns Ferrari.

Fiat's affection for 27-year-old Rossi is well known, and the Financial Times revealed this week that Fiat brand manager Lapo Elkann wears a 'Rossi' pendent around his neck.

Elkann's brother, John, is Fiat's vice chairman.
