Just got this email from RFH - im sure it will please those going to Donington!!!!

Dear friends, colleagues and supporters,

Riders is pleased to announce that tickets for Day of Champions 2008 will be going on sale on Monday 31st March 2008 at 9am.

Day of Champions tickets to go on sale
Our biggest annual fundraising event will take place on Thursday 19th June, before the British MotoGP at Donington Park – and we wanted you to be among the first to know when tickets are going on sale.

This year we are giving you the chance to buy tickets 24 hours a day through the online shop on our re-launched website Home. Those that don’t want to buy online can call the Day of Champions ticket-line on 08702 242 960 from 9am on Monday 31st March. The ticket-line will be open from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

Prices for Day of Champions 2008 will be the same as 2007 – Tickets for the paddock and pit-lane are £25 and ride-in tickets are priced at £50 each. For full details of ticket prices for 2008, click here.

Once again, fans will be able to see behind the scenes of MotoGP as the teams give up their time and open up the paddock to lucky ticket holders. As always there will also be lots of events taking place on the infield and around the track.

Former British Superbike Champion, Niall Mackenzie, has confirmed that he will be leading the traditional ride-in to Donington Park. This year the ride-in meets at Mallory Park, before completing two laps of the track. Participants then head to the Victoria pub in Coalville, where they will enjoy breakfast before heading to Donington. It concludes with hundreds of bikers taking to the tarmac for two parade laps of the famous track.

As ever, the climax to the day will be the famous live auction, with appearances from the MotoGP riders. In 2007 a set of five paintings charting Valentino Rossi’s career raised £6,000 (were these ones done by you Angela????) and a signed helmet belonging to world champion, Casey Stoner, sold for £2,000. This year British star, James Toseland, will make his first appearance at a Day of Champions auction as a MotoGP rider.

We will keep you up to date with all the latest news and information in the run up to Day of Champions, and you can also visit the Day of Champions website by clicking here.

Riders would like to thank everyone at Dorna and IRTA for making Day of Champions possible. We would also like to thank all the teams, riders, and everyone else in the paddock for giving up so much of their valuable time to help raise money for our work.

The problem is more one of negotiating a day off to actually go to the DOC - a day for hubby to stay at home and sort the kids out while I go swanning off to Donington for the day. Alone and child-free.

Hard enough at the best of times but particularly so when you are just about to be whisked off to Jerez for 5 days. To stay in a hotel which is costing an arm and a leg because it is the one I chose.

The timing is just all wrong and it is all my fault as I should have had it all agreed before now.

@ Mel...no those were not done by me, they where a set of 5 prints on canvas but had to be sold as a single lot (the person who donated them insisted on that). The most one of my paintings sold for was for £4000....the others sold for less than this....but all together the paintings I did donate sold for a lot of money!!! I did 8 in total I think for the 2007 Day of Champions, it could have been 9 or more, I lose count these days.

This year I was asked by a friend in the USA to find out if it's possible to have proxy bids or telephone bids from foreign bidders who are unable to get to the Day of Champions and make their own bids on paintings & other items.....it appears that Riders for Health are willing to do this, just as long as the postage of the items is arranged by the winning bidder, as it is difficult to get items delivered here carrying suitable insurance cover for any damages that may occur during transit.
So if anyone is wanting to bid on items at the auction, well it seems that now you will be able to do just that, even if you are not at the Say of Champions!
