Britain's Bradley Smith is waiting on doctors' advice before making a decision on when to return to
grand prix racing.
The teenage Repsol Honda starlet has been ruled out of Saturday's A-Style 125cc Dutch TT after sustaining a broken left hand and left foot during the opening free practice session at Assen on Thursday morning.
The 16-year-old, from Oxford, was in collision with Andrea Iannone who is also expected to miss the race after injuries to his right hand.
Now Smith is planning to recuperate in Barcelona pending a prospective return to action at the series next round, in Germany, next month.
Smith said: "I was on an out lap and riding on the kerb when I looked behind and saw Iannone tucked in behind the screen and flying through the corner behind me.
"He only saw me at the very last moment, when he finally looked up, which was lucky.
"But he still clipped my left side and down I went.
"They told me in the medical centre I had broken one bone in my hand and foot but I still wanted to ride.
"There is also a swelling just below my calf and at first I thought I had broken my leg but thankfully that is okay.
"I will fly to Barcelona to see the team doctor and go from there."
