Dovizioso steps up to MotoGP in '08

Honda's 250cc front runner Andrea Dovizioso has done his deal to progress into the MotoGP class next year as predicted on Thursday.
The 2004 125cc World Champion will ride a Honda MotoGP bike next year not directly with the JIR team but with his current team structure.


The name of the organisation is Force who will run the infrastructure of the team with current JIR boss Luca Montiron still invloved commercially. It is understood that Konica Minolta still have an option to sponsor a Honda, as they do at present with Japan's Shinya Nakano.


The Kopron element of Dovizioso's and Takahashi's 250 team is a pure sponsorship, while the SCOT Construction input has an ownership part of the team that will take the Italian into MotoGP.


Dovizioso has already ridden a Honda MotoGP bike at Valencia when he won the title in 2004, but will start his full time career riding an 800cc Honda on Tuesday November 6th at Valencia.

Good luck for him, he have to learn step by step...but he should win 250 cc. before moto-gp I think

Well, i don`t think now that Dovi has to stay at 250cc any longer... Time flies and he can miss the train (I mean all vocations in all teams will be reserved) and will be forced to wait for some years... And new, fresh blood in 250cc won`t make his life easier and he`ll have less time to learn to ride 800cc bikes then... No, he should keep on going, developing... It`s natural evolution...

I think Dovi has stayed in 250 long enough...He would be WC this year only for Lorenzos very good package..Dovi is very very consistant .. If he were to stay I think he would run away with the title next year in a similar fashion to Lorenzo this year..which wouldn't make very good viewing..

Step on up Dovi...
