Suzuki's Australian MotoGP star Chris Vermeulen will make a flying visit to Campbelltown, west of Sydney, next weekend.

Vermeulen is set to make an appearance at the grand opening of Sydney City Motorcycles' Campbelltown store from 10am on Saturday 2 February, signing autographs and greeting fans on the store's opening day.

In his second MotoGP season, the young Queenslander shone, winning in the wet at Le Mans and claiming several other podium finishes on his way to securing sixth in the 2007 MotoGP Championship.

Fresh from completing testing with the Suzuki MotoGP team at Malaysia's Sepang International circuit, Vermeulen will jet into Australia for testing at Victoria's Phillip Island Grand Prix track before moving on to Spain and Qatar.

Also making appearances at the grand opening will be Suzuki's Australian Superbike riders Shawn Giles and Craig Coxhell, along with rising off road rider Matt Moss, all appearing in store on Sunday 3 February from 11am until 2pm.

Rumors have Suzuki MotoGP rider Chris Vermeulen heading to take the World Superbike seat of Ducati's retiring Troy Bayliss.

Vermeulen has had a miserable year as the Suzuki has struggled to keep pace with Yamaha, Ducati and Honda, all of which seem to have power in hand over the Suzuki.
Ducati on the other hand, have a huge problem with the retirement of iron Aussie Troy Bayliss, who seems to only man in the world capable of keeping Ducati's twin competitive with Japanese fours in World Superbike. Without a superman replacement, Ducati is likely to find itself displaced from the podium altogether...

Maree said V-string... me no hear of that before. But apparently australians call G-strings 'thongs'... but everyone I've ever known has always used the americanism, that's right, G-string. Thongs go on your feet.

I don't think Chris should be shuffling off to Buffalo just yet... he was a race winner last year, and had some decent results here and there... it's pretty obvious at this point that it's the bike that is really sucking... we can all see that. Hope he doesn't lose heart just yet...
