Robbie Maddison’s New Year’s Eve world-recording breaking jump would not have been possible without a worthy machine that could handle the mind boggling task, according to the Honda Australia supported rider.

‘Maddo’ recently reported in to comment on how his modified CR performed at the Las Vegas event where he jumped 98 metres over a football field.

His success at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino arena shattered the previous record of 84 metres, and was the first-ever “Red Bull Experiment”, which involves world-class athletes attempting world-first athletic achievements.

“The bike was a pleasure to ride and the chassis handled and performed like a dream machine,” Robbie said.

“The bike was high tech with many mods just to be sure it could handle the unusual circumstances.”

We fitted Race Tech suspension that Terry Hay from Shock Treatment Sydney designed for me. We also attached some double oversized pegs from Moose Racing, and FMF built and Dyno tested a custom pipe for top end.”

“My mechanic built and balanced wheels for the bike to ensure they would stand the enormous stress from such a landing,” he explained further.

“The bike was dressed from head to toe with Works Connection parts. We ran C12 gas and used Maxima oils throughout the bike. Pro taper handle bars eased the shock going into my arms and Dunlop tyres kept the wheels under me.”

The New South Welshman is also the owner of two additional world records – for the longest jump on a 125cc motorcycle (67 metres) and the longest jump with a trick (75 metres), both achieved on Hondas.

A who’s who of action and motorsports superstars came to watch the young Australian attempt his amazing feat including 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden, five-time 500cc Grand Prix World Champion Mick Doohan, AMA Superbike racers Ben and Eric Bostrom, FMX stars Tommy Clowers, Mike Metzger and Ronnie Faisst, and the family of the late Evel Knievel, to whom Maddison dedicated his world record-breaking feat.

Honda Australia’s General Manager, Motorcycles, Tony Hinton congratulated Robbie on behalf of the company.

Default Bugatti Veyron vs... - 11.01.2008, 20:17

Bugatti Veyron vs...

Cristiano Ronaldo?!

Yes, this is a video, launched on nikefootball.com showing Team Manchester striker Cristiano Ronaldo racing a Bugatti Veyron - the world's fastest car.

The campaign is advertising Nike's new Mercurial Vapor IV boot, which apparently Ronaldo will wear for the first time in a match this weekend against Newcastle Rovers.

There are however, a couple of things about this video that don't quite add up. Discounting the fact that Ronaldo is well on his way before the car has even moved, there is still one major anomaly.

Of course, thanks to editing, it's impossible to time how long they're travelling for, but when you see how far the race course is (wait for the shot from behind the two of them) you can't help but wonder how on earth Ronaldo stays ahead. The Veyron, don't forget, can reach sixty miles an hour in a little over 2.5 seconds and there's just no way the forwards sprint lasts less than that.

Still, it's quite entertaining, so enjoy!

PS: I'm still trying to find out how C.Ronaldo won from a Veyron!
And I still prefer Adidas Predator!

Default Actor Heath Ledger dies at 28 - 23.01.2008, 00:01

Actor Heath Ledger dies at 28

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday of a possible drug overdose in a Lower Manhattan apartment, the New York Police Department said.

The Academy Award nominated actor was 28.

"Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed," police spokesman Paul Browne told CNN.

"This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet."

The pills appeared to be over-the-counter sleeping medication, said police spokeswoman Barbara Chen.

Ledger was unresponsive when he was found by a housekeeper who had gone to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse in the Soho apartment, Browne said.

The apartment is owned by the actress Mary-Kate Olsen, The New York Times reported.

Ledger was declared dead at about 3:30 p.m., Browne said.

In 2005, the actor played Ennis Del Mar in "Brokeback Mountain," about two cowboys who had a secret relationship.

The role earned him the Oscar nomination.

Ledger was born in Perth, Australia. He has a young daughter with actress Michelle Williams, his co-star in "Brokeback Mountain."

"He was just so respected in the industry," said Kim Serafin, senior editor of In Touch Weekly.

"It's just horribly tragic. He was just a fine actor and a good person, so this is horribly sad and very unexpected."

Triumph will produce replica shirts

The famous motorcycle manufacturer has announced the release of a series of vintage T-shirts, apparently replicate those at the end of 60 - ies wore cult Hollywood actor Steve McQueen. Official sales start on March 24 in the 78 - and the actor's birthday.
McQueen is well through their hoops hermit, anything lone stranger. He appeared in such films as "Afuera Thomas Crown," "Escape," "Hell in Podnebese", "Bullet", and others.

The British also remembered another hobby of McQueen - actor always famous for its weakness as motorcycles and all that is connected with them, was avid fan of Triumph brands. Several times McQueen participated in professional races, but has not been successful.

T-shirts offered by the British, are not exact copies of those that was McQueen, but made in the same manner. Front T-shirt decorated with a large printom Triumph in the old style, but on the sleeves is signature of McQueen. Made by a 100 - percent selected cotton T-shirt will be available in all sizes and two colours - black and white classic.

Thanx for that news Ruslan!
My dad rides a Triumph, so you just gave me an idea for his birthday present

Just because someone sees two naked people asleep in bed together, it doesn't necessarily prove sex was involved. It does, however, make for a very strong case.
